O2

Unique Change management course development and train the trainer programme

Summary

Tangram was asked to provide technical skills and knowledge to the O2 Training Team. This was to help develop a new and innovative approach to leadership training within the business.

AkzoNobel Graduate programme 7th - 9th September 2014 - 361

Background

O2, owned by Telephonica, is a global telecoms giant with a huge number of staff based in various offices across the UK. Like any large organisation, especially in their market sector, they face constant change and external pressure.

Challenge

To develop a series of leadership modules that would be interactive, cutting edge, practical and fun. The organisation had a very traditional approach to leadership training and always ran PowerPoint courses rather than anything active. Tangram had to win over the training team and their senior leaders within the business.

The course had to be run by their own internal training team so Tangram was required to run train-the-trainer courses, get the team up to speed on the new content and way of working and be credible in front of leaders and managers within the business.

Solution

The results were brilliant. Tangram worked closely with the training team to devise a series of two-day courses that immersed leaders into the course content. The material combined traditional leadership theory with highly interactive modules that delivered practical and pragmatic solutions for the business.

Courses include:

  • Inspirational Leadership Through Change
  • Highly Effective Teams
  • Agile leadership – VUCA

Outcomes

After initial trials and a little bit of tweaking, the leadership courses have been offered out across the business. The uptake, which is usually a struggle for courses, has been huge as word of mouth and positive feedback encourages reluctant managers to attend.

This has been the most successful course we have run. The feedback from delegates has been fantastic.
