NG Bailey / Lend Lease Beacon Barracks joint venture
Contractor and client team building course to kick-off multi-million building contract
Summary
NG Bailey was awarded a £25m contract to complete a multitude of works at the Ministry of Defence’s Beacon Barracks base in Staffordshire.
Working alongside main contractor Lend Lease, NG Bailey delivered a full design and installation solution.
The project plan was to increase the barracks’ size, growing its capacity from 500 to 2,000 personnel and creating enough room to accommodate two new signal regiments returning from Germany.
Background
Challenge
Delegates from both NG Bailey and Lend Lease required an indoor team offsite to support their evolving partnership; the aim was to further prepare them for working together on the new Beacon Barracks project for the MOD in Stafford.
This was a group facing huge challenges as the project commenced; the logistical and work-related challenges of a large £100 million construction project, coupled with the people-related challenges that all newly formed teams face – vast ranges of skills sets, different locations, different cultures and contrasting ways of working.
Solution
To design and deliver energising and trust-building activities that promote confidence, highlight strengths and complement and assist NG Bailey and Lend Lease in the development of their newly formed project team,
We designed a mix of physical tasks combined with formal facilitation, to help their team-working skills move forwards and support their positive evolution.
Outcomes
“Just a quick note reference yesterday to thank you yourselves and all of your team for putting on a great day which was extremely valuable and thoroughly enjoyable for all.”
Following completion of the team offsite this quote from Paul Dawson of Lend Lease says it all.
“Another great step towards establishing what will be one of the best construction alliances in the industry. This I firmly believe!”
